Answering the consumers’ call for transparency
Solina client Cris-Tim is a major player on the Romanian meat products market. When the company decided to respond to growing consumer concerns about additives and allergens with clean label quality meat products, Solina stepped into help. Using their functional expertise and long experience of the meat industry, Solina worked closely with Cris-Tim to develop customised solutions that would remove soy isolates, starch, MSG, gluten and carrageenans from their products, replacing synthetic flavours with natural ones.
Creating superior quality meat products together
Solina has worked with Cris-Tim for many years, but the partnership entered a new phase when Cris-Tim decided to adapt its approach to meet the needs of consumers for greater transparency, more concise labels and healthier products. Sales Manager Mr Radu Timis aimed to offer consumers better, more nutritious alternatives that were still value for money. As well as eliminating E-numbers, he also decided to remove food allergens. Turning to his suppliers for help was an obvious step.
Solina set about creating customised solutions for Cris-Tim. The close relationship between the two companies gave a solid basis to the frequent meetings with Cris-Tim representatives that ensured Solina gained a full understanding of the company’s needs and wishes. Solina then carried out extensive research and development involving technical experts, R&D engineers and sales teams. The project involved the complete reorganisation of production flows and planning: workflows at the Solina Romania plant were tailored to specific activities, based on the strict implementation of food allergens management. Cris-Tim Production manager, Nicoleta added: “An innovative solution suggested to us by Solina that we have implemented […] was the use of Vitamin B9 in raw, dried products. Overall, 65 ingredient solutions have been developed by Solina.”
Solina has always been there for us, with technical solutions to ensure that things work as planned. Solina does not just develop solutions, but they also suggest to us recipe modifications and how to improve the taste profile and appearance of our meat products.
Ahead of the market with a healthier range
Solina’s outstanding skills and expertise three areas - Taste and Visual, Functional and Nutritional - led to the development of a range of clean label, high meat-content products. They are now among the most popular brands on the Romanian market and their competitors are trying to emulate their methods.
Commercial Manager, Radu Timis Jr. sums up the collaboration: “Solina does not just develop solutions, but they also suggest to us recipe modifications and how to improve the taste profile and appearance of our meat products. The results are extraordinary, as they have certainly brought us a major increase in sales as well as enhanced consumer credibility for our brand.”
